Looking Out My Back Window #165

Took a step back today. I’ve been blogging for four years now, taken many, many photos out this back window. I’ve gone at it from different angles, but never thought to just step back and take the photo from there. Looks different. The window seems so small compared to the normal way. And this is so often how we live, right? We’re in the moment, we see things the way we see them, we have feelings and emotions that get tied to our beliefs about who and what we are… and once in a while we get blindsided with something and have to take a step back and rethink it all. What’s really important? Right? There’s an awesome photo taken from space of the earth – the earth is this small little dot. And on the earth are billions of people. Billions more are long gone. We get to be one of the billions who inhabit the dot for an infinitesimally small period of time – really just a “blip”. There will be challenges. There will be pain and upset and aging and all that goes along with it. When we’re in the midst of the roller coaster ride that is life, it will become hard not to get caught up in worry and/or despair, sadness, pain, anger, and let those emotions dictate to us how we see the world. The earth. When we’re on it, it seems huge. From space it’s a blip. And we’re one of billions of people on the dot in the midst of space for a very short time. How bad can it be? Stop once in a while and be grateful you’re even allowed to take the ride. How can you truly feel joy without ever knowing pain? There will be challenges. None of us will make it out alive, either. We do have the ability to make the most of the time we have no matter what comes our way. Sometimes we just need to step back and look at the big picture 🙂
