Looking Out My Back Window #298

Well… in case you haven’t guessed it, I’m in an airport. We should have been home yesterday, but our flight was cancelled. Never had that happen before. Not the way we wanted Friday to end, with a message that our Saturday morning flight was cancelled and they rebooked us for a new flight on Tuesday. So many things going on at that point – can we stay in the room?… (no), can our dog sitter stay beyond Saturday?… (yes, but only through Sunday), can we keep our rental vehicle?… (yes), can we get a flight home sooner? What if a different airline has a flight sooner, will we be reimbursed?, etc, etc, etc… and that’s life, right? You make all these plans and sometimes, right in the middle of everything, you have to change direction and try to make the best of situations you weren’t in any way planning on. First up – trying to get home sooner. Original airline (American) couldn’t do it. Tuesday was the earliest. But they did say they would reimburse us if we found flights elsewhere. Head to Expedia – Delta had flights that would get us home on Sunday. Ever book a one way flight? (expensive) – ouch. Since we couldn’t stay where we were, we booked a room elsewhere for one night. Got to keep the car. Dog sitter through Sunday. All set!… and the new place? It was fantastic. On Saturday we also found an incredible restaurant and had the best meal of the trip. We swam, we played basketball, we watched a movie, it was awesome. Nobody freaked out, we all rolled with it, and we’re heading home soon. Enjoy whatever happens, right? Not my normal Sunday post, but not my normal circumstances, either. And I got a plane to catch…
