The fact that any one of us is alive at all is a miracle. I mean, really – the odds were way stacked against us ever being born, right? First off – of all the people in the world – our parents had to meet and have sex, and in that process, a specific set of circumstances had to happen – out of all the possible circumstances – to create the being we know as ourselves. It’s like gazillions to one against us ever being born at all. Yet, here we are. Totally unique creations. Wonders. Miracles. All of us. Yes, you. And me. And everyone else. And if we’re lucky enough to be born healthy we’re given some incredible tools to use. A mind – which is the greatest supercomputer ever designed, to use as we please. And a body to navigate with – a totally unique body, too – to use as we please. The mind and body are our tools, and behind all of it resides the soul. Which is the part of us that truly knows how spectacular this whole thing is. So, what do we do with the gifts we’ve been given? We beat the shit out of our bodies. We eat crap, we overwork, we don’t get enough rest, we take this Ferrari we’ve been given and put it up on blocks in the front yard to let the elements destroy it. Right?… seriously look at how you treat your body. Are you doing everything you can to be as healthy as possible? Very few people are. I’m not even close on this one. Because we don’t take the time to think about what an absolute gift we’ve been given here. And how important it is to take care of of it. Without a healthy body, it’s hard to get your mind right. And – the mind? The brain? The supercomputer that runs our lives? What do we do with that?… we stress over little things. We worry about things we say, how we’re perceived, whether other people like us or not. We spend a lot of time thinking about things that don’t serve us. And what is the one thing we could do that very few people actually do that could help us keep our minds focused on what an absolute miracle we have here? Get in touch with our souls. Meditate. Pray. Spend some time every day being grateful. Because every day we have, every single moment we have, is a gift of epic proportions. Why spend it being angry? Why look for things to be upset about? We have been given full reign over our mind and bodies, and really – how often do you take the time to say “thank you”? I say it every day. I thank God for the opportunity I’ve been given. I get in touch with my soul every morning, and try to start each day with love in my heart. These are critical components of life to me. Those of you who know me personally might think – yeah, well – you don’t always seem like a very “loving” person – I’ve seen you upset and/or angry before, right? I am quick to every emotion, always have been. And I don’t want to live any other way. I want to feel it all. Love, anger, sadness, laughter, happiness, joy, heartbreak – bring it on, life. One thing no-one will ever doubt is my passion, though. I wake up every day realizing what a gift I’ve been given. I’m not even close to perfect on how I treat my body, and I also spend a lot of time worrying about things that really seem miniscule in the scheme of things… but I do place mental and physical health at the top of my list of important things in life. And I remind myself myself of it every day, too. Even though I’m not close to 100% – the daily reminders do set me up for more success than living life with blinders, never thinking about who we are, what a miracle we are, and just how special it all is. Take a second today to say “thank you”. Touch your soul today. Use the gifts you’ve been given wisely. Start each day with love in your heart. And put some passion into every moment you have. Because you never know when it will all be over. You’re incredible. Why not realize it and live it? “If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is thank you, it will be enough” – Meister Eckhart
