Not a bad view for today’s post. This week I’ve been thinking a lot about how judgmental we are as human beings. It really bothers me to see how we’ve forgotten how to love each other. That, way too often – people will meet someone for the very first time and judge them by the color of their skin, their perceived sexuality, their nationality, their religion, the clothes they wear, their overall look, or any number of external things that will be judged as a negative trait. Where does this need to feel superior come from? Why should the color of someone’s skin matter at all? What difference does it make who they choose to fall in love with? Or where they were born? What should matter is what kind or people they are, and we are all unique in that regard. You won’t know that unless you get to know someone, which you will never do if you’ve labeled anyone as undesirable right out of the gate. What about looking at how they live? Whatever happened to ethics? Personally, I like to spend time with caring, loving people I know I can count on. When they say they’re going to do something, they do it. When there are people in need, they find a way to help. I like people who exude love and passion in some way. I admit to being somewhat prejudiced against “resting bitch face” – but I do try to suspend that until I get to know who it is behind that facade. Because I know some great people who started off on questionable terms with that one. Some people might say the same about me I guess, depending on the day we met. It’s crazy how many of us hold everyone else to higher standards than we follow in our personal lives, too. We jump on every well known person who does anything even the least bit unethical, but – don’t we all have our own skeletons? Whatever happened to forgiveness? How far should forgiveness go before it becomes “an eye for an eye”? I don’t really have any answers here, I just wish we, as humans, could be less judgemental and more loving. And lately it seems to me like we might be going in reverse on that aspect. Is that what God would want? Humanity to judge and hate and torture and kill each other? Not my God. We need to learn to love again. Maybe we could start by not judging people until we get to know them, if at all. The paths we take in this life are all unique…
