So… with my recent travels, the delays, and then another week off due to my trainer being out of the country – it’s been three weeks since I’ve done any weight lifting or running. Yes, I could have done both things on my given day since I left for California. But I didn’t. I wanted the time off. I think we all need time off every now and then from the routines and habits that make up our lives. And I am certainly someone with plenty of those. I have really enjoyed not having to get up early to get everything done so I can drive to Columbus and lift weights at 6:30 in the morning. And in two days the workout routine I have will start back up again. One hour of lifting weights followed by a two mile run. Every Tuesday and Wednesday. Weird thing is this – I’m kinda looking forward to it. That old saying “absence makes the heart grow fonder” kind of fits for a lot of things we do. Vacations help us come back refreshed and renewed. Same with time apart in our relationships. And breaks in routine as well. Without breaks, the things we repeatedly do can start to be annoyances. When you feel that frustration in anything in life – like, it isn’t fun anymore – not a bad time to consider taking a break. Then come back refreshed and renewed. We all need breaks occasionally. They’re great for the soul.
