Life is incredible. Everything about it is amazing. I think we as humans tend to take a lot for granted. I look at everything with awe and wonder. And I’m really really grateful for every moment I’m given. Every second of every day. The older we get, the more we realize we’re not invincible. No matter what we do, we’ll get hurt. Physically and mentally – we will experience pain. We won’t be able to do things we used to be able to do with ease. People will disappoint us. We’ll say stupid things and wish we hadn’t. We’ll do stupid things and wish we hadn’t. And we’ll spend time beating ourselves up, and worrying, and dealing with all sorts of feelings like regret, and despair and anxiety… instead of really internalizing the importance of time. Or maybe – the lack of time. We don’t have time to be mad at ourselves, or be all up in our heads over something someone else said or did. It’s done. We move on, or we lose even more of the most precious commodity we have being sad, depressed, angry and fearful. We get so caught up in thinking that our way is the best way sometimes, too – and then arguing amongst ourselves over things that really are just simply differences of opinion. I do still believe in my heart that all people want a few things that we can agree on. We want love. We want to feel safe. We want to feel like our lives are meaningful in some way. We want to keep our mental and physical health as long as possible. We want to feel appreciated. What if – just – what if?… one day we all decided this was really how we were all going to live? You want love?… give love always, in every situation. You want to feel safe? Help other people feel safe. You want a meaningful life? Find a way to be of meaningful service to others. You want to stay healthy? No guarantees on this one, but start making health and fitness a priority in your life. And if you do all of that, you will be appreciated. I think all of us are appreciated by others more than we’ll ever know, because it’s something that often goes unsaid. And when a friend or loved one passes away, we start to think “I wish I had told them how much they meant to me”. So, tell everyone how much you appreciate them and their presence in your life. We can change anything and everything in our lives by changing what we focus on. Focus on what’s going right. Live a life of gratitude. The more you influence the lives of others in a positive way, the better you’ll feel when life starts to run its course. Let the haters hate, today go out and be great.
