It’s like 5:13AM here in Hawaii as I start writing today. Thus the photo of one of the other buildings… it was too dark to get a photo looking out to the ocean right now. We have a great morning planned today with people we met here on Maui years ago and became friends with. There might be a Packer game involved as well. And a baby. But I digress… Hawaii doesn’t observe daylight saving time. So, while seemingly most of the rest of the world is going crazy with an extra hour of sleep and trying to find and change every clock in the house… Hawaii is like – nope. Not gonna do it. One benefit? The Packer game is at 8AM today instead of 7AM. Sweet! And it kind of hit me as a metaphor for life today – no matter what’s going on around you, it is possible to stay calm and centered. Our minds seem to love being obsessed with things and creating chaos whenever possible, but our souls are always at peace. We just maybe need to get in touch with the calm that resides within us on a more consistent basis, because when we do, then no matter what’s going on it becomes easier to approach life with a loving presence. It’s a funny thing – I hope we would all see that as a goal. Approach life with a loving presence. But, have you watched social media at all? It doesn’t look like we’re doing such a great job of it these days. Laurie and I leave to come home tomorrow night, and I know this is something I have to work on again. My meditation practice – well… it used to be a daily thing. It’s basically non existent now. I need to learn a lesson from Hawaii here. Center yourself. No matter what’s going on around you, live from that place where love resides. It’s a lifelong journey for sure. And very few are ever able to even come close to doing it with regularity. But, to me – it’s worth the effort. Funny thing is – if it’s worth the effort, why haven’t I been doing it? Our minds are great at keeping our attention focused elsewhere, that’s why. We have to make an effort to touch our souls. Make the effort. I’m telling this to myself as much as I am anyone reading this. Meditate. Pray. Seek to know your source and it will be reflected in everything you do. I wish you the best today and always, as you navigate your life on earth… one day at a time…
