Looks like the sun does rise after a Packer loss. It was a good game, very disappointing to have everything set up, the number one seed, playoffs go through Lambeau in the NFC – and lose to the number six seed. Sports are like that. Emotions run high, everybody has an opinion on how it should be done, or what’s wrong when things don’t go right. But every year in every sport only one team is crowned champion. Every other team goes home with a loss in their last game. In America, we tend to idolize the winners – maybe with the exception of Tom Brady because he’s won so much unless you’re a fan of his team there’s a good chance you’d rather see someone else win for once. But the reality is most players and teams go home after a loss. Losing feels terrible. Losing at a professional level these days with all the social media outlets we have – well, it get compounded with derogatory memes and posts, some which get really nasty. But we all play sports and games and compete amongst ourselves at times because it can be fun to just play the game. I am a terrible winner (gloating) and a terrible loser (sulking) as well. I used to love “Wide World of Sports” back in the day – they called it “the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat”. Cowboys fans were throwing stuff at the refs as they walked off the field last week after losing to the 49ers. Brutal. 31 teams will go home after a loss, no reason to be that way. It’s frustrating being a sports fan because you want to win the championship every year and very few teams ever become dynasties. Players are human beings with families and there’s just no place for personal attacks. How fun can it be to watch sports if you’re just going to be pissed off and annoyed all the time? Anyway, I see all the armchair QBs posting today – Titans lost yesterday at the number one seed in the AFC, too… it seems everyone with a social media account could do it better. I like to win, too – I wish we had a better playoff record than we do, but this season is over for us and I look forward to seeing what happens next year.
