There is no good time to be sick. When our time comes to catch a cold, get the flu, or come down with COVID-19 it’s just gonna hit when it hits. I’ve known hundreds of people who got COVID since it hit the US in March of 2020. Some people really struggled, had to go to the hospital, for others it was very minor. And it didn’t always make sense with who had what symptoms, either. I know older people who I wouldn’t call extremely healthy who got it and it was very minor for them. I know people in their 40’s who had two + weeks of hell. And I know one person who died from it. So when you number is called, as mine was on January 20th – you wonder where you’re gonna be. I’d say I would certainly not recommend it at all. First couple days were body aches, fever, tough sleep. Days 3&4 the body aches had mostly gone away, but the fatigue… Terrible. I’ve heard that from many people – it sucks all the energy out of you. This is day 11 and I’m still lethargic. Covid-19 Fatigue is real. So – I have now missed seven full days of work, planning to go back tomorrow (I’m past the quarantine period and tested non-communicable on Thursday). Of course, tomorrow is the day we’re also starting a two week remodeling project (hiring the work out), and I’m supposed to play shows in Mexico with my old band Road Trip from February 7-14th as well. Right now I’m questioning if I have the energy to go upstairs, much less take a trip or play a show. I’m considering myself lucky here because while fatigue is certainly no fun, it will pass and I know many people who were hit much harder than I was. And it seems like whenever you get sick, no matter what the illness is – it’s always a terrible time, right? Inside you’re thinking “no, no, no – I can’t be getting sick right now – dammit!”… sometimes once you get through an illness it can open yourself up to ways to take better care of yourself, too. I wish you a happy, healthy 2022.

  1. Sorry to hear you’ve been sick. When I had it the lingering affects were fatigue and lack of taste/smell. Take care of you!
